The boys opened up play in Sundance on Thursday night, facing off against the Newcastle Dogies.     Going up against some tough teams in the Stateline Shootout, the Sundance girls’ basketball team fell short in their games this past weekend. The Newcastle Dogies were in town on Thursday as the Lady Bulldogs opened up the first round of play in the Stateline Shootout. The Bulldogs struggled against an aggressive half-court press put on by the Dogies and were not able to get on the board until 4:10 left in the first quarter.     The Sundance Lady Bulldogs opened their season at the Upton Invitational this past weekend. In the opening round of play, the Bulldogs played the Riverside Rebels. It was a slow start for both the Rebels and the Bulldogs. As the first quarter of play wound down, the Bulldogs found themselves holding on to a 10-7 lead.     The Sundance boys’ basketball team kicked off their 2019-2020 season at the Upton Invitational. The opening round put the Bulldogs against the Panthers of Arvada-Clearmont. The Bulldogs jumped out to a quick lead and didn’t let up.     Members of the Sundance wrestling team participated in the Tiger Invitational in Lusk on Friday. Two Bulldog wrestlers placed in the top five of their weight classes. Owen Haiar took first place in the 126 lb. weight class. In the opening rounds, Haiar took wins against Tyzer Isenberger (Moorcroft), Thomas Wagner (H.E.M.) Jonathan Morgan (Newcastle/Upton).     The Sundance Lady Bulldogs walked away with their fifth state volleyball championship this past weekend in Casper. The Bulldogs were arguably one of the three best teams in state this year.     The Upton-Sundance Patriots season came to a close this weekend as the Patriots fell to Cokeville 7-16.     The Upton-Sundance football team began playoffs on Friday hosting Rocky Mountain. The game got off to a good start for the Patriots as their defense forced Rocky Mountain to punt it away on the first drive.     The Sundance Cross Country runners travelled across Wyoming to compete in the state meet on Saturday. Up against some stiff competition from across the state, the Bulldog runners did their best.     The Sundance volleyball team closed their regular season play on Saturday travelling to Big Horn to take on the Rams. Things haven’t been easy for the Bulldogs these past few weeks, but they were able to come away with a four-set victory to secure the #2 seed heading into regionals next week.
