    The Upton-Sundance Patriots opened their 2021 season under the lights at Ferguson Field against the Lead-Deadwood Gold Diggers.     The Sundance Lady Bulldogs were up against some stiffer competition as they participated in the Gillette tournament over the weekend.     The 2021 volleyball season is underway and the Sundance Lady Bulldogs have picked up right where they left off last season.     The spring golf season came to a close this past weekend as the Bulldog golfers competed in the Spring Championships in Cheyenne. The first round of play put Bulldog Sheridan Schubarth four strokes behind Upton’s Brooklyn Materi but the tides turned in the second round of play and the ladies found themselves tied for top honors with a score of 178 on the course.     In the final week of the regular season for track, the Bulldogs competed against eight teams at their home invitational on Friday. The Bulldogs added state qualifiers in two more events as the 1600m sprint medley, composed of Josh Pridgeon, Keaton Mills, Ryder Downey and Hunter Skeens, took first place in the competition with a qualifying time of 3:52.     The Sundance golf team participated in two invites this past week as they travelled to Torrington and Upton. They also played Devils Tower last Tuesday. Sheridan Schubarth was a second place finisher for the Lady Bulldogs at the Lusk Invite, which was held in Torrington. She finished with a score of 95, just behind rival Brooklyn Materi from Upton.     The Bulldog runners had a busy week last week participating in two track meets. Travelling to Belle Fourche on Tuesday, the Hofland sisters took top honors in the disc and shot competitions as Hunter Skeens took the top spot in the 3200m race.     The Sundance track and field team was in Douglas this past week. A break from the snow and rain allowed for the Bulldogs to see some competition on Friday. Two Bulldogs had performances good enough to earn them a prequalified spot in the state track and field meet.     The Sundance track team was in Buffalo last week, competing in their track and field events. It was a large meet for the Bulldogs who walked away with a few top ten finishers and one pre qualifying for state. Hunter Skeens finished in 6th in the 1600m with a time of 4:55.49, dropping 16 seconds from his time last week. Going up against some great competition, the Bulldogs had many of their athletes place in the top five of their events.
