The Sundance Lady Bulldogs opened the 2022 volleyball season in Lingle this past weekend, going up against 1A and 2A teams from the eastern half of the state. “We had a fun weekend of volleyball getting used to our new lineups. The Sundance golf team stayed close to home this week, hosting the Sundance Invite on Friday and participating in the Upton Invite on Saturday. The Bulldog boys continued to stay right together, with only one stroke separating them, on Friday, at their home course. The Sundance Bulldog cross country team opened its 2022 season competing in the Newcastle Invite on Thurs., Aug. 25. Four competed in the varsity/junior varsity boys 5000-meter race. Sophomore Angel Villegas finished 13th in the varsity division with a time of 22:07.33. Sophomore Wyatt Flahaven finished in a time of 24:23.51. The Sundance golf team kicked off their fall season last Thursday in Glenrock. On the boys’ side, freshman Owen Watt started his varsity career finishing in a three-way tie with fellow Bulldog Parker Speidel and Glenrock’s Max Coulter for eighth place, putting up a score of 102. As the 2021-2022 school year came to a close, the Sundance Elementary students participated in their annual field day at Croell Field. The Sundance junior high track team participated in the Best of the East Meet in Douglas on Mon., May 9. All individual events had to meet a qualifying standard during the regular season in order to participate in this meet. Sundance had four individuals qualify and participated in five relays. The winter weather held off for the track and field teams last week as the Bulldog participated in meets at Upton and Spearfish. Traveling to Upton on Thursday, the Bulldogs competed in the Mick Tonkel Classic. The Classic was a smaller meet and many of the Bulldog athletes were able to take the top spots in their events.
