USFS Moskee land swap completed

Black Hills National Forest Supervisor, Craig Bobzien approved an exchange of approximately 940 acres of Federal land for approximately 730 acres of lands owned by Moskee Land Company and Watson Land Company.

The exchanged lands are south of Sundance in the Moskee and Grand Canyon areas.

“The land exchange will consolidate land ownership, secure access for recreation in the Grand Canyon area, and protect open bottomlands,” said Elizabeth Krueger, Bearlodge Resource Planner.

The decision also includes termination of easements on several National Forest System roads. “These roads are in the same area as the Federal parcels being exchanged and are no longer necessary for management of the National Forest,” said Krueger.
