State meet caps off great season for Bulldogs

Several members of the Sundance track team competed this past week in Casper. The Bulldogs finished the season with a great showing at the State Track and Field Meet.

Kacie O’Connor set a new state record in the 2A girls’ discus with a throw of 151’ 8” eclipsing the old record by almost 14 feet. Kacie also received the “Best of the Best” award along with Upton’s Kevin Allen. They were the top marks of any class at the state track meet. Sabrina Whalen was second with a throw of 128’ 3”. Kelsie Loken finished seventh with a throw of 111’ 2”. Mallory Cross finished sixth in the 400 M run with a time of 63.44 and the relay team of Angela Reed, Mallory Cross, Kacie O’Connor and Krista Drentlaw finished third in the 1600 M relay.

For the boys Thomas O’Connor finished seventh in the 3200 M run with a time of 10:53. 09, eighth in the 800 M run with a time of 2:06.37 and sixth in the 1600 with a time of 4:50.90. The relay team of Trent Peplow, Thomas O’Connor, Kory Butts and Shannon Morris finished seventh with a time of 3:47.54.

Other athletes to compete at the state track meet were Robin Moore, who jumped a season best in the triple jump as well as long jumping, Jace Walker who finished ninth in the 3200 and competed in the 1600, Jeremy Adams who finished tenth in the 3200, Skyler Wagaman who competed in the long jump and high jump and Lane Carter who had a personal best in the shot put and competed in the discus.
