Snoozing travelers arrested on drug charges

By Sarah Pridgeon

Two men were arraigned on drug charges last week after state troopers found them napping in their vehicle in the Conoco parking lot. One pound of marijuana, as well as suspected psychedelic mushrooms and methamphetamine, was recovered from the vehicle, said Lieutenant Marty Noonan of Wyoming Highway Patrol.

The vehicle and its sleeping occupants were discovered during investigation of an alarm call at the gas station, at the west edge of town, on November 7 at 9:50 p.m. A distinct smell of marijuana in the vicinity gave officers probable cause to initiate an investigation.

The two men, both in their mid-twenties, are from Illinois and were traveling through Sundance at the time of their arrest. Both were arrested and the case has been turned over to the Division of Criminal Investigation.
