SHS plans Homecoming events

By Gia Julian, SHS Student Council
Next week – October 3 through the 7th- is Homecoming for Sundance High School and the students and staff are already excited for the upcoming games and school activities. All students were invited to put their suggestions in a box for dress-up days. The winning suggestions resulted in Monday being Superhero day- dress as your favorite superhero, Tuesday is Oscar day- dress like you’re going to the Oscars, Wednesday is Nerd day- dress like a nerd, Thursday is Teacher day- dress as like one of the SHS teachers, and Friday is, like always, Red and White day- go all out in red and white.
The class of ’77 will be having their thirty-fifth reunion this year and will be involved in some of the upcoming festivities and Sundance High School’s student council has decided to make that the overall theme of the hallways this year- ‘Through the Ages’. Seventh graders will be decorating their hallway to resemble the caveman era, eighth graders will decorate their hall to reflect the medieval era, Freshmen are doing the ’60s, Sophomores are doing 2500 or futuristic hallway, Juniors have the ’80s as their inspiration, and Seniors are honoring the ’70s. Instead of decorating on Monday of homecoming we will be decorating the morning of Friday the 30th during parent-teacher conferences. Students, staff, and parents are welcome to come and help.
On Thursday the 6th there will be the community pep rally at 6:30 p.m. in the gym, the coronation at 7 in the high school auditorium and the ‘Burning of the S’ following coronation at the football field. On Friday, Oct. 7 there will be the community BBQ at the high school from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The public is invited to join us for the BBQ. Another way student council plans on having the class of ’77 participate in homecoming is that during the homecoming game the homecoming King and Queen of ’77 will be presented at halftime along with this year’s King and Queen.
The games for Homecoming week follow this schedule: Tuesday (Oct. 4) is high school volleyball away against Wright at 3:30-5:30-6:30 p.m., junior high volleyball away against Sage Valley at 4-5 p.m., and junior high football home against Sage Valley at 4 p.m. Friday’s homecoming games will be high school football home against Lusk at 3 p.m. and high school volleyball home against Tongue River at 5-6-7 p.m.
Sundance High School students will wrap up their week with a Homecoming Dance on Saturday (Oct. 8) from 9 p.m. to midnight. This year’s dance theme is black-light.
