Seventh graders take District Championship

The Sundance 6th and 7th grade volleyball team finished out their season by taking 1st place in the NE District Junior High Volleyball Tournament in Wright on Saturday, Oct. 15. They had a bye the 1st round and then trounced Upton 25-12, 25-12. Next the Bulldogs played the home team Wright for the championship. The Lady Bulldogs came out on top of the Panthers 25-9, 25-15.
The 1st place finish was the end to an almost perfect season in which the team compiled a 15-1 record; with only one match going to three matches.
This year’s setters Jaslyn Seeley, Haley Marchant and Molly O’Connor had a great season with many assists to their credit. Middle hitters Meghan Casey, Caitlin Casey, and Teila McInerney were powerful at the net with numerous kills, blocks, and other net play. Outside hitters Maddy Stoddard and Signe Simpson played well all around the floor and contributed many serving points as well as kills. 7th B members Rebecca Schelling, Becca Meisner and Sierra Burgad all contributed throughout the year and improved their games tremendously. Coach Andrea Humphrey commented, “As a coach, I am very proud of these young ladies for their dedication to hard work and their teamwork. They will be fun to watch for years to come!”
