Sage grouse workshops offered

On June 2, 2011, Governor Mead signed Sage Grouse Executive Order (SGEO) 2011-5 replacing the previous Sage Grouse Executive Order 2010-4 initiated by Governor Freudenthal.

The state of Wyoming is holding three workshops to discuss updated information and answer questions about the policy established by the SGEO and review implementation procedures.

In addition the Web Application Density Disturbance Calculation Tool (DDCT) created by the Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center (WYGISC) as the primary tool for assessing disturbance levels for projects proposed for sage grouse core areas, will be reviewed.

The actual DDCT web application will be available for use by all interested parties July 10, 2012.

The workshops are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. on the following dates at the specified locations:

June 25 Green River – Western Wyoming Community College, Green River Center, #1 College Way (Room 206). Map available at www.wwcc.wy.edu/grc/

The workshops are open to the public, and are targeting agencies, industry, consultants, and other organizations. All handouts will be provided electronically prior to the workshop for attendees to download and print. RSVPs are requested in order to provide updates on handouts or workshop details.
