Private family services for Roger Snider, 87 year old Sundance, Wyoming, man who passed away August 31, 2012, at Close To Home Hospice in Gillette, Wyoming, will be held in Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo, Wyoming. Donations in Mr. Snider’s memory may be made to the Crook County Library in care of the Adams Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.
Roger Russell Snider was born on June 23, 1925, in Richmond, California, to Frank and Susan Snider. He moved with his family to Clearmont, Wyoming, in 1926 where he went to grade school. He moved back to California in 1939 when he was a freshman in high school and when he was a senior the family moved to Sundance, Wyoming, where he graduated from Sundance High School with the class of 1943. After high school he joined the U.S. Army and served in Okinawa. He received an honorable discharge and moved back to Sundance in 1947. He was married on June 12, 1948, in Newcastle, Wyoming, to Doris Meisner and they made their home in Sundance where he worked on the family ranch. Roger spent most of his life as a mechanic and they lived in various parts of the United States. They retired in 1988 and moved to Buffalo, Wyoming, where they lived until 1992 when they moved back to Sundance. They continued to live in Sundance until the time of his death. Roger loved anything to do with cars; he loved traveling with his wife, enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of Sundance; one son, Roy Snider and his wife Tamiko of Gilbert, Arizona; four daughters, Sally Decker and her husband Thomas of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mary Strohl and her husband John of Phoenix, Arizona, Terry Lee and her husband Todd of Casper, Wyoming, and Jean Blizzard and her husband Dale of Bedford, Texas; one sister, Bonnie Nygaard and her husband Milton of Pacific Grove, California; twenty grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother William.
