The US Forest Service announced this week that they will be hosting scoping meetings for the Bear Lodge Critical Rare Earths Project in Sundance and Upton next month, which will give residents an initial overview and chance to comment on the proposed mine project.
The meetings will be held on Monday, April 14 in Sundance at 6:30 p.m. in the Courthouse Community Room and on Tuesday, April 15 at 6:30 p.m. in Upton at the Community Center.
Public input provided at the meetings and throughout the scoping phase provide the USFS with important information they will use to develop a draft EIS and a range of alternatives.
“We are pleased that the scoping meeting dates have been set. We will provide our assistance to the Forest Service in any way they would like as they go through this process,” comments George Byers, Vice President.
“Rare Element wants to see this process result in a document that carefully and sufficiently considers and addresses the impacts of the proposed operations.”
All members of the public are encouraged to attend the meetings and provide their input. Written comments will be accepted by the Forest Service until April 30, 2014. Those comments should be sent to: Bear Lodge Project EIS, C/O Jeanette Timm – Project Coordinator, Bearlodge Ranger District, PO Box 680, Sundance, WY, 82729 or emailed to: firstname.lastname@example.org. They may also be faxed to 283-3727.
