Tornado warning systems to be tested April 22

A statewide tornado drill will be conducted by the National Weather Service and emergency officials around 10:30 a.m. MDT on Wednesday, April 22 as part of Wyoming Severe Weather Awareness Week, April 20-24. The exercise is used to train emergency service organizations and educate people how to respond to a tornado warning. Communities may sound local warning sirens and many schools will conduct safety drills for their students.

Devils Tower plans to burn 85 acres

Devils Tower National Monument will implement a prescribed burn during the week of April 19. Fire management officials from the Northern Great Plains Fire Office and Devils Tower National Monument plan to burn 85 acres near the entrance of the Monument and east of the Belle Fourche River.
