The Wayne State College men’s and women’s track and field teams, along with Kacie O’Connor from the women’s team, have received All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The Wildcat women’s team received the All-Academic Team honor for an 11th consecutive year with a cumulative grade point average of 3.55, which tied for fourth out of the 117 teams that earned the award.
To qualify for the team academic award, an institution must record a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher.
Individually, O’Connor received the USTFCCCA All-Academic honor. The sophomore from Sundance was the NSIC discus champion during the outdoor season and an NCAA national qualifier in the event following a personal best mark of 158’ 7”.
To qualify for the individual academic award, an athlete must maintain at least a 3.25 grade point average and have achieved a provisional or automatic qualifying mark for the NCAA Championships in either indoor or outdoor season.
