Marion “Bud” Elvy Van Zee 79, passed away quietly in his home with his wife and family by his side on July 13, 2012. Bud was born on April 13, 1933, the fifth of six children born to Marion and Wilma Van Zee in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was raised in Cheyenne. After, Bud graduated from high school in 1951 he was drafted into the Army. In 1952 he went off to the Panama Canal Zone during the Korean War for two years. He was in charge of navigating the tanks. After his experience in the Army he went off to the University of Wyoming and graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in electrical engineering. In 1964, Bud moved his family to Claremont, California and was hired on by General Dynamics. He went on to work for General Dynamics for over 31 years and then retired in 1995. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Darlene Van Zee of Claremont, California; a son, Jim Van Zee of Upland, California; a son, Jerry Van Zee of Tucson, Arizona; a brother, Bill Van Zee of Medicine Bow, Wyoming; a sister, Carol Stroh of Cheyenne, Wyoming, five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. A service was held on August 2, 2012, at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church followed by a reception there immediately after interment at Oak Park Cemetery.
