Leonard E. Snook 1929-2012

Leonard E. Snook, age 82 of Hartington, Nebraska, died on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge, Nebraska.

Memorial Services will be on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington with Rev. Gary Kimm officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Leonard was born November 28, 1929, at Crawford, Nebraska, to Leonard N. and Martha G. (Frahm) Snook. He grew up in Sundance, Wyoming, on a cattle ranch and graduated from Sundance High School. He married Jance Hourigan on February 17, 1973, at Hartington.

Leonard had a rewarding career in the Transportation Industry. He was a professional truck driver, dispatcher and terminal manager, and received an award for driving a million miles without an accident.

His career spanned over the United States and he and Jance experienced living in several states. Leonard retired in 1991 and started a janitorial service where he prospered until his health declined.

Leonard loved to dance, golf and had a passion for family, airplanes, and trains.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Jance of Hartington; a daughter, Lark Berg of Coleridge; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Marlene Cooper (Jim Brown) of Carlile, Wyoming; a brother, Bob Snook of Gainesville, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Gene Taylor; a brother, Marvin Snook; and a niece, Marsha Snook.
