Leon “Skeeter” Pruet passed away from this life on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, after a battle with cancer. He was 72 years old. Leon was currently a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, where he resided with his wife Gayle of 52 years. Leon lived in the Hulett, Wyoming, area in the late ’70s and early ’80s on their ranch. They recently spent summers here, while winters in Las Vegas. Leon was born in Oklahoma. He loved to fish, was an excellent knapper (arrowhead maker), an avid reader, and a fabulous storyteller. Leon was a sheet metal worker in the Seattle area for many years, before he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle of Las Vegas; son, Lloyd Pruet (Jan) of Hulett; daughter, Cindy Brown (Doug) of Washington; five grandchildren, Blaine Wood of Washington, Kevin (Kendall) Meek of Washington, Heidi Bächtel of Las Vegas, Jesse Pruet of California and Ashley (Jon) Pruet-Laue of Washington; five great grandchildren; his sister, Esther Stednick (Paul) of Las Vegas; his sister-in-law, Anita Goodell of Douglas, Wyoming; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, David Pruet and mother, Marie Olin.
There will be no services held at this time. A private family memorial will be held at a later date at the family ranch outside of Hulett.
