Karen Dick – 1941-2012

Karen Dick, 70 of Sundance, Wyoming, passed away January 4, 2012, at her home.

Funeral services were Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at the Sundance United Methodist Church with Pastor Dave Moorman officiating. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Upton. A memorial has been established to benefit the Sundance Emergency Medical Services.

Karen was born June 19, 1941, to Minna Adeheid and Martin J. Goebel in Bremen, Germany. She moved with her mother to the United States in 1948, settling in Sydney, Nebraska. Karen met the love of her life, Ronald Dick, on a blind date and the couple later married on May 21, 1957, in California. Together they traveled the US and raised three children; Martin, Carl and Rosalie. Following her husband’s retirement from the US Navy in 1982 the couple settled in Sundance.

Karen loved to bowl, play games with her family, enjoyed every holiday with family and friends, camping with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her trips to Deadwood with friends. She even had many extra kids she called her own. Karen was a gentle soul and loved many.

Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald, grandson, Christopher, sister, Violet, along with her parents.

Grateful to have shared her life is her sister, Maryann (Darryl) Johnson of Cheyenne, Wyoming; her children, Martin (Ellen) Dick of Azle, Texas, Carl (Carolyn) Dick of Gillette, Wyoming, and Rosalie Schipansky (Carl Christensen) of Gillette; twelve grandchildren, Jack, Kitty, Randy, Heather, Martin Jr., Billy, Troy, Theresa, Carl Jr., Brandon, Lucas and Amber and many nieces and nephews. Karen will be deeply missed by all of those who loved her.
