Jeff was a native North Dakotan and a 27-year Wyoming resident. He and his wife, Diane, spent the last nine years living in a log cabin that had been crafted by his own two hands. Jeff was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, camping, boating and hunting. He supported a great love for animals and also enjoyed cooking, taxidermy, carpentry and leatherwork. Although a cement finisher by trade, Jeff spent his later years working as a truck driver. In 1988, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Range Management from the University of Wyoming and was proud of the fact that both his children followed in his footsteps by also graduating from UW. He was a faithful supporter of both the Wounded Warrior Project and Red Cross. Jeff was a very giving man who continually used his many talents to help family, friends and neighbors alike.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerome Messner; a brother, Dale Messner; and a half-brother, Jerome Messner Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Messner, of Wyoming; his mother, Betty Messner, of North Dakota; two brothers, Dwight Messner of North Dakota and Jay Messner of Nevada; a sister, Elese Messner-Price of Minnesota; two half sisters, Monica Heck of North Dakota and Celeste Brennan of Montana; a son, Joe Messner of North Dakota; and a daughter, Carly Messner of Oregon. Jeff will be greatly missed by all.
