Gladys Laverne Bartels, 94 of Lead, South Dakota, died on April 10, 2012, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. Survivors include four sons, Dennis (Sherrill) Vail of Sundance, Wyoming, Donald (Valarie) Vail of Worland, Wyoming, Delvin (Susan) Bartels of Philip, South Dakota, Dolan (Lori) Bartels of Dixon Illinois; two daughters, Marva Bartels of Arizona, Georgia Vail of California; one sister, Deloris Tennant of Gettysburg, South Dakota; twenty grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elvin Bartels; two grandchildren; three brothers and one sister.
Upon her request cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. A memorial has been established to the Senior Citizens Center, 609 West Main Street, Lead, South Dakota 57754.
