Dr. Erin Leanne Rogers, 48, died unexpectedly Sunday, December 22, 2013, in Sundance, Wyoming.
Erin grew up in Contoocook Village outside of Concord, New Hampshire, where she graduated first in her class from Hopkinton High School. She attended Oberlin College in Ohio where she majored in anthropology and sociology. After graduation she moved to Chicago where she worked in the library at Northwestern University, while completing pre-med requirements.
Erin studied at Rush Medical College in Chicago where she met her husband, Keith Allan Noback. In 1996, Erin and Keith were married in Reykjavik, Iceland. They subsequently moved to Rapid City, South Dakota, where they completed their residencies specializing in family practice at Rapid City Hospital. From 2000 to 2013 Erin worked as a family practice physician at Crook County Medical Services District.
Erin and Keith treasured their two sons, Rowan Kerr Noback and Kieran Robb Noback. As a dedicated mother, Erin read to her children and nurtured their passion for art, the outdoors and their various four-legged furry pals who share their household.
Everyone will remember Erin as a gentle, modest and hardworking doctor who cared for her patients with thoughtfulness and thoroughness. Her family and friends loved her unique sense of humor, creativity and spontaneity. An accomplished carpenter and painter, her artwork decorates Sundance Clinic and brightens the homes of many friends and relatives.
In addition to her husband and sons, Erin remains in the hearts of her parents, William C. Rogers and Marilyn J. Rogers (nee McKnight); her brother and his wife, Dana and Maggie Rogers and her nieces Samantha and Nicole; and Mary Fortier, her best friend for over forty years. Extended family members include Keith, Monique, Shaun and Sarah Saunders; and John Noback and his children, Jackson, Justice and Jillian.
An informal celebration of her life will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Sundance Crook County Public Library.
