Donald J. “Don” Maloney, Aladdin Wyoming, passed from his earthly home to be with his father in heaven on Friday, June 14th, 2013 with his wife Maggie of 50 years and brother-in-law Buddy Sunding at his side.
Don was born November 26, 1935, to Irvin and Dorothy (Bartkowski) Maloney in Rapid City, South Dakota.
He graduated from elementary school in Mitchell, South Dakota, and continued his education from South Dakota State University, graduating in 1958, with his Pharmacy degree. After he graduated he worked at Carter Drug Store in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, and then served four years in the U.S. Army, he returned to Belle Fourche, where he met Maggie Sunding. They were married June 8, 1963. In March of 1966 he joined the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Co. and retired after 28 years in Casper, Wyoming, at which time they moved to Aladdin, where he lived until his death. Don loved his family, friends, boating, fishing, yard work and especially his Irish traditions, he was a devout Catholic.
They were blessed with a son, Patrick (Teresa) Maloney and granddaughter, Katie, a daughter, Dawn Maloney, grandchildren Anthony and Joanna.
Besides his wife, Maggie and children he is survived by his brother, David (Mary) Maloney. Don also was very close with his two brother-in-laws, Buddy (Ginny) Sunding and Martin (Betty) Haider. Buddy who has always been at Don’s side helping him whether it be in the yard or with the house and Martin Haider spent a lot of time fishing with Don at the Madison River in Montana.
Upon his request cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Black Hills Funeral Home in Sturgis, South Dakota.
