Cross Country season in full swing

With the cross country season in full swing, the Sundance Bulldogs have been tearing up the sod at area meets, including Spearfish, Belle Fourche, Douglas and Sturgis. Sundance has combined again this year with Hulett and boasts nine runners: seniors Cayla Adams, Jace Walker, Taylor Bjornestad and Dylon Lincoln (manager); junior Sheyenne Halstengard; sophomores Melanie Aker and

The team has improved greatly over the course of the season and each athlete continues to beat their personal bests. Seniors Jace Walker and Cayla Adams have consistently placed at every meet thus far, both taking 6th place in Douglas and 4th in Sturgis in the varsity boys and girls’ races. This last week they took first at the 2A NE Triangular in Pine Haven, Jace with a time of 17:14 and Cayla coming in at 21:18. Also in the top ten at Pine Haven were Sheyenne Halstengard in 4th, Jonas Pridgeon at 6th and Taylor Bjornestad in 10th.
This week the team will run at the NE Regional Cross Country Tournament at the Devils Tower Golf Club in Hulett on Thursday. The race times are as follows: JH Girls – 1:30 p.m., JH Boys – 2 p.m., HS Girls – 2:30 p.m., HS Boys – 3:15 p.m.
