Crook County Promotion Board – July 7 – Best Western, Hulett

Attending: Joleen Hart, President; Rose Ann Olson, Vice President; Robyn Finch, Secretary/Treasurer; member Cynthia Clonch. Excused was member Andrea Wood and absent member Teresa Stefan. Guests: Jim Wilkerson, Miles Marketing and Jen Womack of Sagebrush Marketing.

Motions were made to approve the agenda with changes. A motion to approve the minutes as presented was made by Cynthia, seconded by Robyn and passed. The balance on hand as of July 7, 2014 is $44,020.18. Rose Ann motioned to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented; Cynthia seconded the motion and it was passed.

Guest Jim Wilkerson, Account Executive from Miles Marketing, discussed the advertising for the Wyoming Travelers Journal. He offered several options, and the Board decided on keeping the full page ad on Page 4 of the Journal, to add a half page ad in the Northeast Wyoming section of the Journal and to sign up for On-line Leads Program.

Contract Services for Marketing are handled by Sagebrush Marketing. Jennifer needs more events and details of those events to post on our Facebook page. She will begin a photo data base that we can use for promotion purposes. Jen will do an e-newsletter in February about “Encountering the Tower”. The new brochures have been distributed to Certified Folder, to RoadRunner Distribution, and to the visitor centers in Wyoming and South Dakota Judy from Randall Marketing was here in June and visited several locations. She did some surveys. We are getting surveys back, and they are ongoing until September. Cynthia reported that the Honor Farm will be erecting the posts for the Moorcroft Sign on Wednesday, July 9. The sign is getting closer to being finished. A grant request was presented from Ride A Horse, Feed A Cowboy event in Hulett.

Robyn attended the County Commissioner’s meeting in place of Joleen. She presented our letter and the Commissioners voted yes to placing the lodging tax on the November ballot. The WTIC has a webinar on lodging tax. It is decided that we need a political action committee. Rose suggested that we invite Chris Brown to the next meeting to discuss such a committee. Rose also suggested a couple of names of people who might be willing to be on that action committee. We will use the September meeting to prepare to promote the lodging tax on the ballot.

The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting of the Crook County Promotion Board will be Monday, September 8 at the West Texas Trail Museum in Moorcroft, Wyoming, beginning at 4 p.m.
