Board Meeting – November 5, 2018
President Peggy Boardman called the regular board meeting of the Crook County Fair Board to order at 5:35 pm. The Pledge of Allegiance was said.
Board members present: Peggy Boardman, Lonny Bossman, Justin Gerstner
Board members absent: Bob Burke
Employees present: Carolyn Fowler, Jessica Weinand
Visitors: Terri Johnson, Brian Kennah
Lonny moved to approve the agenda as amended, Justin seconded, all ayes, motion carried.
Brian Kennah discussed some ideas for fairgrounds usage with the 4H and FFA. A poultry project will be started using the rabbit barn. They want to involve the grade school with this also. They would like to use the pig barn more during the year. Some improvements being looked into are sliding doors and heating. A possible living classroom could be developed around the hoop house. Lonny moved to approve Brian’s requests to assist with the electrical improvements, the Fair Board will provide parts, Brian’s class will supply labor and there will be an electrician supervising; the livestock barns can be used as needed with the FFA funding improvements, Justin seconded, discussion followed. Lonny amended the motion to monitor the electrical on a trial basis and then decide if partial funding needs to come from the school in the future, all ayes, motion carried.
Lonny moved to approve the minutes from the October 1, 2018 meeting, Justin seconded, all ayes, motion carried.
Lonny gave the Treasurer’s Report.

Carolyn gave the Secretary Report
Jessica gave the Maintenance Report. Justin moved to purchase the storage unit for the bolts, Lonny seconded, all ayes, motion carried.
Old Business:
Electrical improvement around the fairgrounds was discussed. A quote is being worked on.
Peggy talked with the school superintendent about not placing snow around the shooting sports building and big barn.
New Business:
The insurance quote from the hail storm has been received. It will be looked over for the fair buildings.
Lonny moved to replace Ted’s drill batteries, Justin seconded, all ayes, motion carried.
Lonny moved to pay bills plus the most recent received, Justin seconded, all ayes, motion carried.
Justin moved to adjourn at 7:10 pm, Lonny seconded, all ayes, motion carried.
The next meeting is scheduled for December 3, 2018 at 5:30 pm.
