Charlotte Ruth Alexander 1929-2012

Charlotte Ruth (Tweed) Alexander, 82, passed away March 8, 2012, at Wyoming Medical Center. She was born in Casper, Wyoming, on September 30, 1929, to Albert E. and Harriet (Geyman) Tweed. Charlotte attended Casper schools, graduating from Natrona County High School in 1947 and Casper College in 1949. She attended the University of Wyoming, belonging to the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, graduating in 1951 with a bachelors degree in Business Administration. Charlotte returned to Casper where she worked for the Tweed Insurance Agency.

She married John F. Alexander of Webster City, IA, November 29, 1952, in Casper. They moved to Webster City where John worked for L. V. Mills Plumbing and Heating, returning to Casper two years later. In 1961, they moved to Lovell, Wyoming, where John and Charlotte owned and operated Lovell Hardware. Later John worked for American Colloid. In 1967, John was transferred to Belle Fourche, South Dakota, and the family moved to a ranch outside Aladdin, Wyoming, where Charlotte worked at home. They then moved to the town of Aladdin in 1969, where Charlotte worked in Sundance, Wyoming, for the Crook County School District and later for Crook County Extension office. In 1975, they moved to Sundance. Charlotte and John later opened a plumbing business and art supply store where Charlotte gave art lessons. They retired in 1989 in Casper, where Charlotte took care of her mother.

Charlotte and John were active for 14 years delivering Meals on Wheels. Her hobbies included painting landscapes, reading and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years; son, Clayr (Betty) and their children, Austin, Payson and Loren, all of Big Timber, Montana; daughter, Beth of Aurora, Colorado; and son, Craig (Laurie) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and their son, Bryce of Missoula, Montana. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Albert (Guy) Tweed; one son, Clark Edward; and one grandson, Colby Daniel Alexander.

Memorial services were held Thursday, March 15, 2012, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Casper.
