Boys drop game to Lusk, enter playoffs as third seed

The Upton Sundance Patriots wrapped their regular season on Friday night in Upton with a hard-fought loss to the undefeated Lusk Tigers by a 22-12 margin.

Ben Stoddard found Jett Materi on a 50 yard pass for the Patriot’s first score in the opening quarter while Materi found the endzone again in the third quarter, this time off a short rush.

Defensively, Kory Butts was credited with 14 tackles including a sack and one interception. Stoddard was shown with six tackles, Lane Carter, Davis Butts and Wyatt Burr were each credited with five. Skyler Wagaman accounted for four tackles and a fumble recovery.

The Patriots open their post-season play with a game on the road against Burlington this Friday at 1:30 p.m. The winner of that contest will face the winner of the Lusk/Rocky Mountain matchup next week.
