AARP Driver Safety Class scheduled for Sept. 26-27


The AARP Driver Safety Class (formally known as 55 Alive) for drivers 50 and older will be conducted September 26-27 from 1 to 5 p.m. each day. The class will be held at the Sundance Senior Citizen Center. The cost of the class is $12 for AARP Members and $14 for non-members. Please bring your Driver’s License and AARP card. Without the AARP number you will be required to pay the non-member price. Participants may register by calling the Sundance Senior Citizens Center at 283-1710. Those who participate may be eligible for a discount on their automobile insurance, check with your insurance company. You must attend both days for the attendance certification.

The class will cover the effects of aging and our driving ability and driver strategies to compensate for these changes. Common accident situations and how to reduce the chances of an accident will be discussed. We will discuss who we share the road with and how to avoid an accident with them. Changes in today’s roads and vehicles will also be discussed. The intent of the class is to provide you with the tools to insure you continue to drive safely in the golden years and also the tools to evaluate your own driving skills and ability to determine when retirement from driving is appropriate.
