Olivia Croft of Sundance High School has been selected as Region IV representative for the National Association of Student Councils Advisory Board, the first time in over 20 years that a Wyoming student has held the position. She will represent Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota and Wyoming on the National Advisory Council for a two-year term.

“This is both a terrific honor and wonderful opportunity for Olivia. The chance for personal growth and the opportunities this will provide are immeasurable,” says Principal Mark Broderson.

“Not only will this be a great experience for Olivia, but she will bring her experiences back to share with students here as well – when one student at SHS does well, it benefits everyone. Olivia has put forth a great deal of effort for her success and she truly deserves this opportunity.”

Croft, who is currently the Vice President of the SHS Student Council, was selected by a committee of over 40 students and advisors at the annual Region IV meeting in Minneapolis this weekend. She will begin her duties in October by leading the next Region IV meeting and will advise the National Association of Secondary School Principals/National Association of Student Councils staff and board on issues, topics and concerns that are related to student council.

Croft will also help to select the winners of the Warren E. Shull Advisers of the Year at regional and national levels, assist in reviewing the National Awards programs and perform duties at the National Conference.

“We are very proud to have Olivia represent Wyoming Association of Student Councils and Region IV Student Councils. Olivia’s commitment, enthusiasm and dedication to student council and leadership is outstanding,” says Mary Jayne Jordan, Student Council Advisor.

“She has been an officer in her local student council at SHS for two years, has represented the Northeast Wyoming Region on the state board for a year, attended the state convention and our summer leadership conference for two years and attended National Conference last year. Her continued commitment to student council and helping bring leadership experiences to others made her a perfect fit for the Region IV representative.”

Croft will present at this year’s national conference in June, to be held in Orlando, Florida. Secretary Angela Reed will join her at the conference.

To fund the trip, the Sundance Student Council is selling Sundance Mountain Mist coffee and raffling two Mini iPads. Both coffee and raffle tickets can be purchased from council members Gia Julian, Olivia Croft, Angela Reed, Rebecca Dulaney, Lane Carter, Trent Peplow, Lars Williamson, Cole Inghram, Logan Gil and Logan Stephanich.
